Dear CipherMail Gateway/Webmail administrator,
We would like to notify you of a change in our support policy and End-
of-Life (EOL) dates, available at
<https://www.ciphermail.com/faq/support-policy.html>. We have decided
to end the security support for customers of the virtual appliances
based on CentOS 7, effective November 28th, 2022. That date marks the
eightteenth month since the release of CipherMail Gateway 5.0 and
Webmail 4.0, which are both based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.
Who is impacted?
- Customers of CipherMail Email Encryption Gateway 4.x
- Customers of CipherMail Webmail Messenger 3.x
- Users of CipherMail Community Gateway 4.x. There is no extended
support for Community users, and security support ended the day
CipherMail Community Gateway 5.0 was released.
What will happen?
Once your copy of CipherMail software has reached the EOL date, you
will no longer receive security updates. This means that the security
of your appliance can no longer be guaranteed. If the appliance is
connected to the internet, there is a substantial chance that it will
eventually be breached by someone with malicious intent. For this
reason, you should always keep your software up-to-date.
Some customers have received a tailored update to CipherMail Gateway
5.0 or Webmail 4.0, without having to upgrade to Red Hat Enterprise
Linux 8. We are working with these customers to upgrade their
appliances to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 as well.
For our upgrade documentation, please refer to
<https://www.ciphermail.com/documentation/virtual-appliance-guide/major-upgr…>
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this announcement,
please contact our support department at support(a)ciphermail.com. Paying
customers are always entitled to upgrade support.
Thank you for your trust in CipherMail Email Encryption.
